Vincent paid for a MacBook Pro by auctioning 20 sticker spots on it
A developer from Bordeaux auctioned sticker spots on a MacBook Pro he had not bought yet, using the money to pay for it. The lid, palm rests and accessories were split into 20 spots, each bid on with a 20 percent card deposit. All 20 sold for a total of 7,955 euros, well above the 3,644 euro laptop price, with the top spot above the Apple logo going for 1,715 euros.

Lessons
- Tying the auction to a clear goal, the price of the laptop, makes the pitch easy to understand.
- A refundable deposit on each bid filters out fake bids without scaring off real ones.
- Small low priced spots on palm rests and accessories let more brands take part.
