How to monetize your backpack

  1. List it. Upload a photo of your backpack, mark each spot and pick how you bill: per week, month, event or post. We set the price from reach, market and demand.
  2. Get requests. Brands find it in Browse and message you. Accept or decline.
  3. Get paid. The brand pays when you accept. You are paid after you post proof that the logo is up.
  4. Or run an auction. Share a link and let brands bid. Start a backpack auction.

Get paid to put ads on your backpack

Post dated photos of the backpack with each logo, then a few photos or clips of it on campus, transit or the trail.

Tips

  • Velcro panels and pins let you change sponsors without damaging the bag.
  • Say where you carry it: which campus, which train line, which trip. That is the audience.
  • A keychain QR tag is cheap to make and lets a sponsor see if anyone scans it.

Questions

Will patches ruin my bag?

Velcro or pins do not. Iron on patches can melt some fabrics, so test first.

Can I sell a travel trip?

Yes. List the dates and places, and give proof photos from the trip.

Is a backpack enough for a brand to care?

For local businesses near a campus or busy commute, it can be. Start the price low.

How do brands find my backpack?

List it once. Brands browse spots by type, city and price and message you through SponsorMySpot. Your email stays private.

Who sets the price?

Our pricing engine, like a ride app. It prices each spot from what it is, how many people see it and the market you are in, and the price rises when brands are asking for that kind of spot near you. Owners pick how they bill: per week, month, event or post.

When do I get paid?

The brand pays when you accept their request. You are paid after you post proof that the logo is up. Payouts go to your bank through Stripe. The fee is 8 percent.

Can brands bid against each other instead?

Yes. Run an auction: each spot opens at your start price and any brand can take it by paying double. Cards are held, not charged, until bidding closes.
