How to monetize your browser extension
- List it. Upload a photo of your browser extension, mark each spot and pick how you bill: per week, month, event or post. We set the price from reach, market and demand.
- Get requests. Brands find it in Browse and message you. Accept or decline.
- Get paid. The brand pays when you accept. You are paid after you post proof that the logo is up.
- Or run an auction. Share a link and let brands bid. Start a browser extension auction.
Get paid to put ads on your browser extension
Post a dated screenshot of the live popup or page, plus the version number that shipped the placement.
Tips
- Read the Chrome Web Store and Firefox add on policies. Never inject ads into the websites people visit.
- Keep sponsor spots inside your own extension pages. Ads on third party pages can get the extension removed.
- Ship the placement in an update and note it in your changelog, so the sponsor can see the date.
Questions
Is it allowed?
Store policies limit ads, especially ads injected into other sites. Keep placements in your own popup and pages, and read the current rules.
Do users need to update?
Most browsers update extensions on their own, but it can take a while. Say so in the spot note.
Can I collect data for the sponsor?
Do not. Share only what you already show users, like a link they choose to click.
How do brands find my browser extension?
List it once. Brands browse spots by type, city and price and message you through SponsorMySpot. Your email stays private.
Who sets the price?
Our pricing engine, like a ride app. It prices each spot from what it is, how many people see it and the market you are in, and the price rises when brands are asking for that kind of spot near you. Owners pick how they bill: per week, month, event or post.
When do I get paid?
The brand pays when you accept their request. You are paid after you post proof that the logo is up. Payouts go to your bank through Stripe. The fee is 8 percent.
Can brands bid against each other instead?
Yes. Run an auction: each spot opens at your start price and any brand can take it by paying double. Cards are held, not charged, until bidding closes.
