Podcast ad networks usually want a large audience before they call. You can sell your own spots now: a host read pre-roll, a mid-roll, the show notes, a full episode sponsor. Pin them on your cover art, get your prices, and let brands come to you.

How to monetize your podcast

  1. List it. Upload a photo of your podcast, mark each spot and pick how you bill: per week, month, event or post. We set the price from reach, market and demand.
  2. Get requests. Brands find it in Browse and message you. Accept or decline.
  3. Get paid. The brand pays when you accept. You are paid after you post proof that the logo is up.
  4. Or run an auction. Share a link and let brands bid. Start a podcast auction.

Get paid to put ads on your podcast

Share the episode link with timestamps for each read, and a screenshot of the show notes. Add downloads from your host dashboard after a week.

Tips

  • Host reads usually work better than pre-recorded spots because listeners trust your voice. Price them higher.
  • Say whether the ad is baked in or dynamically inserted. Baked in ads stay in the episode forever, inserted ones can be swapped later.
  • Say 'this episode is sponsored by' out loud. The FTC wants disclosure people can hear, not just a line in the notes.

Questions

What is the difference between a host read and a pre-recorded ad?

A host read is you talking about the brand in your own words. A pre-recorded ad is audio the brand gives you to play.

Do I need an ad network?

No. Networks bring brands but often have audience minimums and take a share. Here you list your own spots.

Can I sell spots on old episodes?

If your host supports dynamic ad insertion, yes. If not, you would need to edit and re-upload each episode.

How do brands find my podcast?

List it once. Brands browse spots by type, city and price and message you through SponsorMySpot. Your email stays private.

Who sets the price?

Our pricing engine, like a ride app. It prices each spot from what it is, how many people see it and the market you are in, and the price rises when brands are asking for that kind of spot near you. Owners pick how they bill: per week, month, event or post.

When do I get paid?

The brand pays when you accept their request. You are paid after you post proof that the logo is up. Payouts go to your bank through Stripe. The fee is 8 percent.

Can brands bid against each other instead?

Yes. Run an auction: each spot opens at your start price and any brand can take it by paying double. Cards are held, not charged, until bidding closes.
